Quarrying & minerals noise at work assessments

Crushers, screens, conveyors and heavy plant make quarries and processing sites some of the highest-noise workplaces there are. We measure what your operators and plant crews are really exposed to and keep it compliant under a fixed-price 4-Year Care Plan.

Watch · Quarrying & Minerals in 30 seconds

A quick look at where the noise comes from on this kind of floor, and how a Care Plan assessment measures it.

Typical daily exposure · quarrying & minerals
88–106 dB(A)
Primary crushing, screening and the constant roar of conveyors and mobile plant push operator levels well past the 85 dB(A) upper action value across most of the shift, and cabs are not always the refuge people assume. That means marked zones, health surveillance and documented evidence — and a measurement on the working face and in the plant is the only way to pin down the real figure.

Typical noise sources on a quarry & processing site

Primary crusher~100–106 dB(A)
Screens & grading decks~95 dB(A)
Conveyor transfer points~90 dB(A)
Mobile plant & dumpers (in cab)~85–90 dB(A)
Drilling rigs~100 dB(A)
Wash plant & pumps~88 dB(A)

Typical published/measured figures for the equipment itself — your own exposure depends on time-at-task, layout and controls. Only a measurement confirms your figure.

Common questions

Is the cab really quieter?

Not always — older or poorly sealed cabs, doors left open and structure-borne noise mean cab operators can still be over the action values. We measure the cab as it's actually used, not as the brochure claims.

The site changes as we work the face — how do you assess?

By task, area and plant item, then combined into a real daily dose. The Care Plan keeps it reviewed as the working face and plant layout move.

Do you cover fixed and mobile plant together?

Yes — the crushing and screening plant and the mobile fleet are each captured, since operators often move between them across a shift.

What does it cost?
